Story tags
Under each country's numbers, a few short tags tell its story in a line each: why Russia's earnings from its trade changed, what it did, and how sure the number is. Each tag opens one or two sentences with the number behind it and its sources. They are generated from the data by the rules below, in this order of priority; the first six are shown, the rest behind "+ more". A tag changes no number. MAT, a material amount, is 0.1% of the country's GDP (2022–2024 average).

Whether a number is "likely toward Ukraine / Russia", "too close to call", "near zero" or "essentially zero" is said in its headline, not as a tag. Each tag that cites data links its sources in its sentence; the code is storyTags() in index.html.
The same tags are filters in the map's Filters drawer (round 33). Picking one dims the countries without it and shows a card with what it means, how many countries have it and the largest five; up to three combine (the countries that have all of them), and the pick also narrows the Ranking. A tag that comes in two versions is two filters there: bought or sold much more or much less, top-10 or major aid giver, orange mostly from fuel buying or from sales. The filters only pick countries: no number changes.
